Walking in a Winter Wonderland

May 2009

Well it’s almost been a year so I guess it’s time for an update! After returning from SE Asia in July we settled into a regular routine of work and play until Christmas when we took a 3 week vacation to Australia. We had a wonderful time with Dave’s family as we celebrated Christmas and New Years in 40 degree heat! We especially enjoyed several days by the ocean with Dave’s aunt and uncle. We had a quick stopover in Fiji on our way home. Our plan had been to squeeze in some more beach time and a bit of adventure, but we were met by some major floods (the worst Fiji has seen in 10yrs) and thus spent the majority of our time reading and writing blogs!

February was a month of change for us. First of all-we moved yet again. We are now in a bright, roomy 2 bedroom basement suite that is located pretty much smack dab between the church and the hospital that Jen works at. We are paying much less rent and have a very nice landlord. The “neighbours” upstairs are friendly and quiet. We love it! The same week that we moved we also welcomed a new addition to the family-a puppy named Austin J He is a yorkie-toy poodle-dashhound cross , or as we like to call him a `Heinz 57“. Needless to say, he is very cute and full of energy and we have had a lot of fun with him. He is now 5 months old (this is written in May). The final change in February for us was that Dave resigned from his office administrator job at the church. He remains as part-time associate pastor of student ministries and has now begun part-time Seminary studies.

In April we took separate holidays-but don`t worry, we weren`t angry at one another! Dave went to the Gospel Coalition conference in Chicago with the Sr. pastor of our church and Jen went to Arizona to visit a good friend of hers. Dave was challenged to remain faithful to the gospel while engaging the culture. He came home probably in need of a vacation while Jen had a very relaxing visit and came home refreshed.

May has brought a change for Jen as she has taking a hiatus from Emergency to go back to Neonatal Intensive care full-time for a year. It is a welcome change from the fast-pace and high stress of the ER.

We`re gearing up for a busy summer with big events such as Jr. High Breakaway and soccer camp coming up. We plan to work hard throughout the summer and have a getaway to San Francisco planned for late September.

Love,

Dave & Jen
